Have You Thai Jai? Western Thai Fusion
What's your first impression when you hear of the name Thai Jai? If you haven't been to ThaiJai before then you're probably assuming that they're 'just' serving Thai food. But you'd be wrong, just as I was 🙈. All this time since they opened, I always thought the same too, until the recent experience that I found out they actually serves Western Thai cuisine, i.e, Thai cuisine with a western twist.
Unlike your typical Thai Cuisine, Thai Jai allows you to select an appetizer, soup, pasta, main course, and even desserts for your meal; much like a western cuisine.
First up! Tom Kha! Not to be mixed up with Tom Yum soup, Tom Kha is a Thai coconut chicken soup with a rich galangal flavour. But don't be afraid of the galangal, the soup will burst open all your taste buds due to the sourness and a hint of spiciness, getting you ready to savour the other dishes.
Other than a crazy appetizing Tom Kha, this Salmon Thai Mango Salad with a perfectly seared salmon will blast open your palate as well!
Next up is the Tom Yum Prawn Fettucinne. I'm sure you've had Fettucinne Carbonara, but you seriously gotta give this Tom Yum Fettucinne a try. The creamy fettucinne with a hint of spiciness and acidity from the tom yum will make you fall in love with this unique pasta.
Lastly, we have the star of the day, the all new, Thai Jai Mix Plater. It's no exaggeration to say this very platter is the physical embodiment of Thai Jai itself. Thai Jai combines the best of Thai and Western cuisine and incorporate the combination of these 2 elements in their menu, just like their all new Mix Platter.
This platter offers you the opportunity to taste a combination of the best from Thai Jai, whether it's their Pesto Chicken, Paneang Lamb Shank Cut, Green Curry Sirloin, or their Angel Hair Pasta; allowing you to enjoy the best of Thai Jai at once.
Being the first and the only one serving such delicious and new cuisine in Kuching, you have got to give them a try. I can guarantee that once you give it a go, you'll turn out to be a fan just as anyone else who've tried it!
So, have you Thai Jai?
